CONSTRUCTION SUPERVISOR SERVICES
As a licensed construction supervisor, I work to oversee and bring together the people needed to complete the renovation of your home.
I am responsible for managing all aspects of your project, including hiring and supervising subcontractors, getting building permits, ordering supplies, and scheduling inspections. I work one on one with the plumbers, carpenters, and painters to ensure that the job is done efficiently and to your satisfaction.
As someone who has been remodeling and building in the Springfield area for 30 years, naturally I have some subcontractors with whom I’ve worked for decades. Additionally, between 2000 and 2008 when I build about 45 new homes, I enjoyed working with a group of Russian carpenters who impressed me with their great work habits, eagerness to work long hours and high level of carpentry skills. These folks have been added to my list of great subs on whom I can call when I need to get projects done quickly and professionally. I also have a small crew of laborers. Although my main job is to coordinate the project, I occasionally load the dumpster, or pick up a hammer and saw when extra help is needed. (And make frequent trips to Lowes and the lumber yard to get all the smaller but still important materials needed to complete a job).
I will serve as your main contact throughout the project, and I will explain all steps of the work as well as communicate your specific ideas for the project to the appropriate subcontractor. It is important to have regular, daily communication while we’re putting your home back together.
I have been building and remodeling in Springfield for thirty years, and have long standing relationships with the Building Department, the DPW and the Planning Department. Restoration of your home may involve permitting from one to all three of these departments. It’s important to know that other than securing your building or cleaning up debris, no real work can begin until all permits are in place. I am also familiar with local and state building codes, all of which are continually evolving and changing.
After owning more than 150 properties over the last 30 years, I have had my own experience with insurance losses, and so I bring to your project the benefit of the knowledge I gained first hand dealing with insurance companies, putting buildings back together and moving through the feelings of loss and fear.
It has been my experience that insurance companies are generally pretty fair when it comes to making the amount you need to rebuild your home. It is important, however, that you take the attitude with the adjuster that “you want your home put back together just like it was before.”
Finally, I hope to help you see this terrible time as an opportunity to put your home back together into even better condition. Some of my past projects have received architectural awards, and others have been written up in local and national publications. Right now your focus may be just in getting back into your home, but along that journey, I can bring it together to give your home a beautiful, customized look which you will enjoy when, at last, this hard time is finally over.
